Beware Of Baguio Thieves

I wasn't able to share with you this immediately because it was preceded by the issue of my sites' downtime and my mind was in a mess those days. Anyways, I might as well tell our story now. And this is not to discourage you from going to the city. This is just to warn you that Baguio is not as thief-free as compared to other cities like it used to be. Me and my sister, together with our children, were walking down Session Road on the way to Tiong-San Harrison when we were kind of stalled in front of McDonald's (in lower Session Road) because of a lot of people were crossing the pedestrian lane and I was kind of distracted by the black smoke coming out of a car exhaust. We have a hunch that's when the thieving happened because moments later, a group of students called my attention and pointed to my open bag.

We immediately looked inside and were shocked to find that my cellphone is missing! Okay, don't hyperventilate yet. It wasn't a big deal to me because it wasn't even an expensive phone. My sister, who uses it (I don't use that cellphone anymore. Haven't for months now.) was the more affected one (she's a text addict). What infuriates me is that I used to feel so safe going to town. We hardly hear of any pickpockets or thieves lurking the roads of Session. Up to that day when we were the victims ourselves. Thinking back, I wish we could have reported it to the police. But we were seriously shell-shocked that day. That was the first time we have been robbed of anything, see. Oh dear.

So when you go here, just please be careful. Especially in that area. The thieves may be operating there regularly, I don't know.

Am I Getting Lucky Finally?

Remember when I wrote in here a while back (during our blogversary contest) about me being very, very unlucky when it comes to raffle contests? Well, it seems that Rota Fortunae (wheel of fortune) has turned for me. It's barely halfway through the year and I've already won two blog contests whose winners were determined by raffle! LOL! I know that may not sound much to some of you who are lucky in this kind of stuff but for me that's an achievement of a lifetime! Because you gotta believe me when I tell you, I haven't ever won (except maybe for that one time in an office Christmas party when I won a Php200 gift certificate for Penshoppe. But I was pregnant then. I was supposed to be lucky, so that doesn't count) anything in my life by chance. I know. Sad, right? So what two contests am I talking about? The one by Bambie from her blogversary and the recently ended blogversary contest by marce Chris. I didn't even win the top prizes from those two contests I'm I feel like I've won top prize. LOL. Are raffle contests finally being friendly to me? Hee hee. And oh. Congrats to my fellow winners :)

The Key To Quality Transportation

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

NMEDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing disabled people the kind of mobility equipment that let them move freely, particularly those that can be found on vehicles. The importance of the freedom of movement among the disabled is an idea that is sometimes lost on most of us, since people usually take for granted what we already have. But the NMEDA group came together in order to work for the improvement of the transportation options of people with disabilities. The organization itself does not sell anything, but the dealers (members) do.

Of course, all NMEDA members adhere to the strict safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and with that in mind, one can be assured of the highest quality mobility equipment that they offer. This is good news not only for the disabled people themselves, but also for their families who make sure that their loved ones are able to move as freely as possible despite their physical condition. Their website offers a dealers locator feature which enables to see if there is a local dealer near you, just by typing your zip code. I've found none near me, since I live in another country, but if you live in the US or Canada, you will probably find a dealer within your vicinity.

Two Up, Two To Go

So I'm still waiting for my WAHMaholic site to propagate. When it's done, my WAHMaholic Designs will be back in business again. The Beauty Queen Gene (BQG) site and the private blog that I host are already up, though. In fact, I did a post for BQG while waiting for my WAHMaholic database to upload. I haven't been visible the past three days, but I am working "behind the scenes" for repeat orders. I promised I will post about the new template I did, but I am too lazy right now to upload a screen shot, but I promise I will, when WAHMaholic goes back up (I will post it there). Anyways, if you have nothing better to do, you might wanna check it out. It's the Happy Monthsary site, and you can visit it HERE.

Down Everywhere

My domains WAHMaholic and Beauty Queen Gene, as well as my subdomain WAHMaholic Designs are currently down because of bandwidth issues (when did my sites get so popular??). I was not informed that I am nearing my bandwidth limit (is there really no warning when that happens?), so I cannot do anything now but take measures to make sure that does not happen again. So that means you'll be seeing more of me here in the next one to two days. LOL. Damn bandwidth. So here's what's stressing me ever since I woke up this morning:

No more hassles after this, I swear. Okay, so I'll be off now to install a client's template. I'll post here after we're through :)

Inspirational Thoughts

Being a WAHM, as most can imagine, is not easy. Especially for me, since I am the breadwinner of the family. Everything we have comes from what I earn online, and although I have been a WAHM for more than two years now, I still cannot say that I've learned everything there is to know about making money online. So it is still very difficult for me, and sometimes I become frustrated and want to quit. Being a freelancer, jobs do not come everyday, and when they do come, they can sometimes be a huge pain in the you-know-what (which is also true of any job, full-time or part-time). But you know what keeps me going? Paulie and Svet. When I think of how this job has helped our family and how it has allowed me to spend more time with Svet and Paulie compared to if I was working full-time, it feels like I'm the luckiest person alive. True, we might not have much in terms of materials things (I would venture to say that we in fact, have little), but this relationship that we have because of my working at home is something that I will not exchange for any amount of full-time job salary in the world.

Just thinking of Paulie, always understanding me when I am pissed off with work and he becomes the shock absorber, is enough to make me go on. Just hearing Svet in the background talking nonstop about goodness knows what (she speaks in German, at least, me thinks) makes me smile inside and say to myself that "Hey, life's not so bad after all". Just being able to just drop my work to watch them play or play with them I think is very precious, and those moments make my work (heck my life) seem less of a pressure. A lot of people might think that what I do for a living is fun and easy. I have to admit that there are times that it can be that way, but when the low points come, it really tests my endurance as a WAHM. It makes me falter, makes me think twice if I am really up for the challenges, but you know, when you remember that you have a family that you love who needs you, you just go straight on, without a moment's hesitation, without a thought of "What about me?" I know a lot of moms can relate to what I'm saying, and that many of you will agree that indeed, the family is our source of inspiration.

4 Years, 9 Months, 8 Days

That's how long Paulie and I have been together. I didn't realize we'd last this long, let alone have a hyperactive toddler like Svetlana who brings joy to our lives. We hardly fight nowadays, but that doesn't mean we understand each other all the time. But we've learned our lesson (the hard way, sadly), and know that even though we're not perfect people, we have to accept each other for who we are, give each other room to breathe and learn not get into each other's nerves by knowing what pisses one off in the first place. I can't won't say that Paulie is the most ideal man to live with, but I can say that given my attitude, he's put up with so much and I'm amazed that he's still here, taking care of us in the ways that he knows how. He is like the guy who loves his dash kit so much, yet doesn't yell at his girlfriend for staining or spilling something on it, just because he knows who's more important. I sometimes wish he is a better, luckier, more driven person, but then again, if he's all that, will he be the same Paulie that he is now? If not, then I don't think I would like him to change, because what he is right now is someone whom I've come to love so much, and I know in my heart that he loves me and Svet the same way.

GT: Childhood Friends

This weeks Girls Talk theme hosted by none other than my cheery marce Niko over at her über violet Girls Rule blog is really a trip down the memory lane. My childhood friends, like Niko, are my cousins. We're a pretty tight family, on both sides (but I'm closer to my mom's relatives) and these are a couple of pictures I dug up. Pretty old pictures, which says a lot about my age. LOL.

The one above is of me and my cousins on my father's side. I don't see them anymore because we each have families of our own now, plus we live in another city. I am closest to the two small boys on the left, Em and Hon, and we communicate sometimes on Facebook. I'm the girl in blue with the pink headband, by the way. I don't know what happened to the picture and why it's messed up that way. Tee hee.

Below is a picture of me, my sister Rb, my favorite aunt Tita Itang, and our two cousins Bronson and Mark. They are from my mom's side, and I still see them when we go to Bulacan. Mark has a baby now, and Jerby (Mark's son) is born on the same month as Svet. Bronson is still single and is still batang-isip (childish). LOL. But I love them both. And now I miss them. It's your fault Niko. Niahehe.

Join our trip down the memory lane this week and share your old pictures and stories! Head over to Niko's blog to join in the fun!
