Friday Fill-Ins #1

I've been meaning to join this one for sometime now but only remembered it again today. LOL. Typical. I really should keep a written schedule of my posts plastered on my forehead. Anyways. Enough yackity yack. Here's my first ever entry:

1. I was pissed when the lights went out for three hours this morning.
2. I didn't realize it was super late and I left my book under my pillow only to find it in pieces the morning after.
3. Why is my daughter growing up so fast???
4. My bestfriend Iza was in my thoughts today.
5. One of my father's favorite sayings was
God will not give us anything we can't handle.
6. Crazy --I know that feeling!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to the grocery to buy food ingredients for Svet's birthday tomorrow, tomorrow my plans include going to the park and just spending the day with Svet and the rest of the family and Sunday, I want to finish all my pending tasks to start the Monday fresh!

Happy Birthday Marces Yami & Kikamz!

April is a month full of special people's birthday and today is extra special because two of my marces are celebrating their special day! Woot! So let's greet both of them, starting with marce Yami. I have already met her in person, and she is so warm, much like what you'd feel when you read her posts. I didn't know she was a professional writer (yes she is! And I'm proud to be her marce! Woot!) before she turned work-at-home-mom (I learned by reading her short bio on Barrio Siete), but it's obvious with how well she expresses herself on her blogs. I just didn't realize how "involved" she was with her work before the blogging world. To you marce, the woman who cried because of Fedhz on their first EVER meet-up (BAD Fedhz! LOL), you know I love you dearly and would do anything for you. I miss talking to you on YM (install your messenger! Now na! Tee hee). Oi, don't cry ha? I know you cry easier than the rest of us marces. Hehe. Love you marce! Looking forward to seeing you on June! Don't be absent ha?

And how can we forget my other marce who's celebrating her red-letter day today? I haven't met Kikamz in person due to our geographical distance, but I wish with all my heart that when she comes home to the Philippines, she will meet with us get-together hungry marces. Tee hee. To you marce Ana Karenina (naks!), I know we're not super close right now like I want to, but as they say, there's a time for everything, and I believe we're getting there. I may seem aloof on YM because I haven't talked to you there (even though we're already added on each other's lists) but please know that whenever you need to talk (and YES, even if my status message says I'm busy. That message applies only to non-marces. LOL) I'm just on the other end of the line. Don't worry. Next time I see you online, I'll make you regret you ever added me because I'll chat with you till dawn. Niahehe. Love you marce! Let's meet-up when you come home okay? Looking forward to it!

GT: Last Time I Pigged Out

It's a Thursday girlies! So that means it's time once again one of my most-loved memes, hosted by none other than my gorgeous (but adik) marce Niko over at her Girls Rule blog! Topic this week is the last time I pigged out. One thing that you have to know about me is that I always eat like pig, whether it's inside the house or in some restaurant (unless of course I don't like the food or I've been attacked by a severe case of shyness). The last time me, Paulie and Svet ate out was with Fedhz and Mike and Yz. It was last Saturday at Teriyaki Boy (SM Baguio branch). So here's some pictures of that:

Have a story to share? Head over to Niko's blog and join in the girls' fun!

My 10th Photo Tag

Marce Chris of Mommy Journey tagged me with this one. I know I have received a lot of awards and tags from her in the past months and I haven't had the chance (or it simply my laziness plus amnesia. A deadly combination, I tell ya) to post them yet, so when I learned she has a new one for me (and okay, I was sort of not in the mood to work yet. LOL), I decided to post it right away. With this tag we're supposed to find the 10th photo in our pictures folder, tell the readers a little about the photo and tag five more players. Here's mine:

Forgot when it was exactly taken (typical) but definitely just last month. She was wearing what her grandmother (Paulie's mom) gave for her to wear on New Year's eve, thus the polka dots. And that on her hair is my youngest sisters headband. She's been trying out a lot of my sisters' stuff lately. Tee hee. Now I'm tagging the rest of the Marce club! Yay!

It's Marce Gene's Birthday!

One of my most loved girls in the entire universe is celebrating her birthday today! Since she is special to me and the Marce club, we decided to make her day a wee bit special. To my beautiful Marce Gene, when we first met online, I felt that you are very kind and caring. It reflects in all your posts, and I'm realy, really glad that we became marces and got to know each other better. On your special day, I wish you all the things that your heart desires, and may you enjoy many, many more years of your life to share with the ones you love the most, and to continue sharing to people a passion for life that you so easily relay to everyone you know. I love you marce! May we have many more years of friendship! Enjoy your day with Hyzyd and hubby!

Because today's so special
it really wouldn't do,
to send one simple birthday wish
to last the whole year through...
So this wishes happy moments,
a day when dreams come true,
and a year that's filled with all the things
that mean the most to you.

Store Brand Products And The Economy

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

We cannot deny the effects of the global economy on our lives, rich or poor. There's been a recent research on consumers regarding their view on the status of the economy, and the study showed that 8 of 10 supermarket shoppers do not notice any improvement in the economy, and 40% of them stated that if anything, it has actually gotten worse in the recent months. I'm the family's breadwinner, so I can certainly attest that the study more than accurately describes our economy nowadays, and how all people from all walks of life are feeling the burden. Now how does the terms Recession, Recovery & Store Brands come in the picture?

In line with getting more for our money's worth, said survey revealed that 62% of consumers are planning to purchase more store brand products and less branded ones as an effort to tighten their budget and survive the economy. Survey in discussion further reveals that 57% of shoppers have identified themselves as frequent buyers of store brand items. Out of the 43% of shoppers who have switched to a store brand product like Parent's Choice, 97% confirmed that they are happy with the decision they made to switch, which is not surprising because based on my own experiences, I know that branded and store-brand are on almost the same level of quality, if not on even ground. The number of people patronizing store brand products have increased by the day. In fact, the numbers are up from 35% in June 2009. I would not be surprised to see this trend continue in the following months (years, even). If you can save money by buying something of almost the same quality, why wouldn't you?

Fedhz Is Here!

With Mike and Yz of course. They arrived 8 am and Paulie was the one I sent as the welcoming party. I was busy with hiding tidying up Svet's early morning mess (and besides I didn't want to walk that long so early in the morning. Tee hee). We ate breakfast in the house and went out and pretended to browsed a couple of shops with Fedhz looking for a suitable running attire for their race on Sunday and Svet and Yz playing hide and seek amidst the clothes racks. We ended up eating (again) at Don Henrico's along Session. I noticed Fedhz can hardly keep her eyes open so I decided to go home early so she can sleep while Mike and Paul went to the supermarket to buy some groceries. Knowing Fedhz, I know she wouldn't sleep immediately because she'd want to talk. Tee hee. But right now she and Mike are asleep (that's why I'm blogging. Haha) and Yz is watching cartoons with Paulie and Svet. More about them later. ;)

GT: Food I Choose First on a Buffet

It's a Thursday once again, and that means it's time once again for Girls Talk!, masterminded by my gorgeous marce Niko over at her Girls Rule blog. This month it's all about food, and this week in particular we are revealing what food we first grab, errr.. choose when we are given a wide selection in front of us. My choice is always Embutido (ground meat roll), whether it's fish, beef or pork. I don't know why. It's not even my most favorite food in the world. Tee hee. But it's always the first food I put in my plate.

BUT, the first thing I look for is sisig (Filipino dish made from parts of pig’s head and liver, usually seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers). If there's sisig, of course, embutido takes a backseat. I have long been a fan, and I am constantly on the lookout for something that will compare to what my stepdad does (he makes delish sisig, I promise, the BEST I've tasted. And I've tasted many, I tell you).

A Wii For Pehpot's Kids

I know I'm late in posting this, but better late than never is this girl's motto. KFC, with the launch of their new product Chewy Cheese, is holding a contest at their Facebook page. I don't want to bore you with the details in case you're not interested in the contest, but I just want to ask for your help in making my marce Pehpot and her kid Kayil bag the top prize, which is a Nintendo Wii. Now, it only involves two easy steps:

  1. Go to THIS PAGE and log-in to your Facebook account so you can become a fan of the KFC Chewy Cheese page.
  2. Once a fan, go to THIS LINK and THIS LINK (both are Pehpot's entries) and click Like somewhere under the photo.
Told you it was easy. So pretty please (with sugar on top!) click the links and make Pehpot's kids' happy with a Nintendo Wii! Promo period is from March 31 to April 30, 2010 so you'll have until the end of the month to vote. Thank you!!!

John Mayer Philippines Concert Rescheduled

BC Bloggers' pretty mastermind Paula informed me through a comment on my BC Bloggers' Party Post that the John Mayer concert here in the Philippines which was originally scheduled on May 16 will be held on October 1 instead. Quite a long wait for those who already have a ticket, eh? But this is great news for people who have yet to save for a ticket because it gives them more time for a chance to see John Mayer live. Confirmation of the change of dates can be seen at his official site, although at the moment no formal announcement has been made. Will I be going now that the concert schedule has been moved? No. The ticket prices haven't changed (methinks), so in my mind it's still not justifiable for a one-night performance. BUT, as mentioned in my previous post about this craziness, if a one-night stand is included in the package, I'll definitely go.
