GT: K As A Lover

I'm late! Auggghh. But I still made it. Bleh. Hee hee. Anyways, this week's GT requires us to describe ourselves as a lover. Hmmm... Where do I start? (like I have so many things to say about the subject! LOL) Paulie would attest that I am first and foremost a very giving lover. I leave almost nothing for myself for as long as I see my loved one happy and content. He is even the one who's always persuading me to buy stuff for myself, but I rarely want anything for me. I think of his welfare more than I care for myself, that's how giving I am. I am also an expressive lover (although not nearly as sweet as our host Niko). I'm not uncomfortable in saying I Love You or hugging him in public when I feel like doing so. I'm not a jealous lover, but maybe it's because Paulie gives me no reason to feel that way. But in our relationship, I am rarely the first to say sorry. Again, maybe it's because Paulie is always the first one to come forward and ask for forgiveness.

How about you? How would you describe yourself as a lover? Click on the badge above to see more entries this week and the other weeks for Girls Talk!

You may be wondering why the sudden change in numbers on the top commentators widget in our sidebars. Pehpot was able to persuade (I wonder how?? LOL) her husband Cata make a working widget with the parameters that is designed for the contest. May we ask all the contestants to come forward and comment here with the blogs that you are commenting on? Please say which sponsors' blogs is now under your spam wrath. Haha! Kidding aside, the rules for the comments are these:

Comments before the contest starts are NOT counted. Only comments when the contest started are counted.

Comments from old articles as long as it is commented during the contest period are counted. SO even if you commented on an article dated 1950 but you commented on it today, it WILL BE counted.

The Top Commentators widget will be up until Friday. SO take note of your scores. After Friday, for fairness sake (we're not unfair like Pinoy Big Brother! LOL), we will remove it.

EDITED: The contest will be extended!!! We are giving you more time to GAIN more points!!! More details on the extension before the week ends.

As Requested

Let me grant marce Niko's request with this post. Hee hee. She requested for my sister's (marce Kikamz, she is my younger maldita sister. Hihihi.) picture, so here they are (not one but three! Yay! Hahaha!). I was not able to make her a card for her birthday, but she read my post about her here. Also, I wasn't online the whole day because an angel named Margie seemed to have heard, rather, read, my emailsss and gave me stuff to be busy about the whole day. I am NOT complaining. LOL. I love it!

For those asking, she is nineteen and a single mom. Yeah, I know. Too young. But hey, we got Elijah, and he's more than a welcome blessing to us. As an aside, my public apologies to marce Gene for her long-delayed layout (which she paid for. waaahhh!!), to my marces Pehpot, Jade, Fedhz and Chris (and Niko, as well) for not being online the whole day and to marces Seiko, Yami, Liz and Mye (and Kikamz, too!) for not visiting their blog more often. I am soo behind what's happening the Marce club's lives. Ouch.

Touched To My Very Core

Forgive me Mys and Kikamz for posting it just now. I am kind of out there these past few days. Hee hee. Anyways, so to my readers, these two gals made entries for Mys' meme Letters That I'll Never Send which are dedicated to Peh and I. Awwww... I was half-afraid that it was a letter cursing us for our time-consuming and brain-busting contest. Haha! But knowing these girls, the letters were the exact opposite. Here are their letters to us. The first one is by Mys, and the second one by marce Kikamz:

I didn't expect that I will be writing this to you but since most of the posts I've made for this month mentions both of you, I guess it almost sounds logical. Anyway, this is supposed to be a letter of appreciation. I think without your blog contest, most of my entries for this month would have been forced with cheesiness (as if I'm not cheesy) and all the romantic things that involve love. Instead, I am glad to be learning more of new bloggers that I would have not encountered had I not joined your contest. I love that my writing skills are being honed, I am in doubt whether they have improved but at least I gave it my best shot. I am constantly rooting for Niko, Chris and Kikamz and Tetcha too. I've also enjoyed receiving reviews. Hopefully, if I earn some money or when I do, I can get to make a contest or draw a prize from those who painstakingly reviewed my blog. What I'm really saying is, since I think I'm doing a roundabout... Thank you. I've learned so much more about my blog and how it appears to other people. Your contest widened my horizons and made me learn that nothing is lost in trying. For that, I thank both of you so much.

Today is the 3rd Thursday of the month and that means that it's a write-to-anybody-you-want day on Mys' meme: Letters That I'll Never Send. I may not have the chance to write to you ladies again so that I am grabbing this chance. So where do I start?

First I want to thank you ladies for the invitation to be one of the sponsors of the biggest blogging contest. Through it I have enjoyed backlinks to my site and wonderful reviews that gave me assurance that people find my blog interesting and worth reading. The reviews also allowed me to evaluate my blog and to fill in what's lacking.

Secondly, I want to let you know that allowing me as a sponsor to still join the contest has been a blessing to me, both personally and as a writer. It has indeed helped me to be better at writing reviews, or at least that's what I think. It has helped me to manage my time better. I must admit that it is not easy to write reviews, just completing the requirements was a task. Thank you for giving me the challenge to challenge myself and my capacity, that even if I have reviews to write, tons at that, I am still able to use a big portion of my time on what's most important: my family.

Lastly, I want to commend you for joining forces for thinking about this contest and for giving us bloggers a challenging and worthwhile venue to earn some money on the side. Through this, I have more than enough reason to update my blog on a daily basis. It has allowed me to visit other wonderfully written blogs as well, making me realize that indeed, there are lots like me who also have something profound and funny and interesting to share in the worldwideweb.

I hope you ladies get to read this entry before it gets buried by more reviews. Needless to say, you ladies deserve a thumbs up for all the hard work you have thrown in this contest. Hugs to you both and wishing you success in all your endeavors.

*sniff* Pehpot and I have been debating for a while whether to take away the "hard" task of reviewing the major sponsors as a requirement for joining our contest. We had to give in in the end, for the sake of our dear sponsors. But we didn't really want to. We aren't sadists, we just want to make that clear. We aren't divas, either. We admit, however, that we see A LOT of sites that are a pain in the ass to read. So we decided to use our contest to encourage bloggers to practice their reviewing skills in preparation for (more) writing opportunities. What better way than to motivate them with cash and Adgitize gift cards? I know not a lot of most people didn't understand the motivation behind such requirements, and would rather put their fate in the hands of Random.org. We have nothing against randomly drawn contests. In fact, we join a lot of them. But we were given a window of opportunity to make an impact in improving the blogging skills of our fellow bloggers. And we just can't resist.

To Mys and marce Kikamz, we thank you deeply for your letters. We may not be able to leave a comment on each and every review that you make, but rest assured that by the end of the contest, we will give credit to EVERY ONE of your reviews and let the recipients of the reviews know how much time and brainpower you spent in doing all of them. That also goes to  the other contestants who painstakingly checked off all the sponsors in our list and made a blog review for them. Again, we know it takes a lot of time, but we WILL reward those who will persevere until the end. And also know that by the end of the contest, YOU WILL be MUCH MUCH better in writing down your thoughts than most of the other bloggers put together. Now that, my lovelies, is what we want to see, and what matters the most.

The Winners Of Sidebar Text Links For 3 Months!

We're sorry we posted it just now. But to make up for it, we decided to have these people's links for THREE whole months on our sidebars instead of just one! Again, please note that I only checked the respective post pages with the contest requirements, so any URL that wasn't commented on those pages will not be counted. I don't want to spend the whole day searching through my archives and Pehpot's to find where you commented those URLS, thus that rule. So here is the list of the next ten people who managed to complete our requirements, in no particular order of their time of completion:

The blogs of the above people are already on our sidebars. If you have the time, please drop by their blogs and leave them some loving

Didn't see your name on the list? Don't worry. We have another chance for you. The NEXT TEN PEOPLE to complete the requirements will each get  TWO months of advertising space (text links) on the sidebars of my PR2 blog WAHMaholic and Pehpot's PR3 blog, Make or Break. I already took note of those who were able to complete the requirements but wasn't able to join the first twenty people (you know who you are), and there are still a lot of slots in the NEXT TEN, so submit your entries now! Please watch out for our announcement on who made it on the list!

Bathroom Break

No, not the type you ask for when nature calls. Hee hee. We were strolling down Abanao Road in town where furniture and home improvement products stores line the street when we chanced upon a store with a beautiful showcase of baths. I love looking at baths (because we don't have them lovely tubs at the house), and urged Paulie to walk in and check out the inventory. When we went home I was still thinking of them, and decided to go to Better Bathrooms for more looking. I know I'm addicted. Hee hee. But who wouldn't be? Especially with Better Bathrooms gorgeous picture presentation of baths, which make you want to buy right that moment. There's a stock clearance sale going on at the site, so if you're looking to buy Cheap Baths, I strongly suggest Better Bathrooms as an option. The site makes it easy to pick your choice of baths, as it is arranged categorically, and there are a lot of price points that you will surely find one that fits your budget. If you want detailed product specifications, you just have to click on the link below the product to go to the page dedicated to the bath you are interested in. Important site links are well-presented at the top of the site for better navigation. Overall a great site to be in if you're looking to remodel or make improvements to your home.

GT: V-Day Picture

As part of a New year's resolution (hee hee), here is my entry for this week's Girls Talk, hosted by my beautiful Marce Niko over at her gorgeous (eherm!) blog. Photo below was taken the night of the 14th, right before we slept and after a looong day of entertaining my sister's guests (an account of which I posted in brief over here). We hardly had time to ourselves that day, save for some time we spent singing on the videoke. LOL. Paulie sang to me a bit (yihiii) but had to cut the song short because the sisig was burning. Haha.

Streamline Cake Tea House Session Road

I know. Give me a bad angle and I'll shoot it for sure. LOL. Anyways, to compensate for our lack of sweetness that day, we ate tons of sweet things. Hahaha! I LOVE this Streamline cake from Tea House in Session Road. It's sooo spongy and not too sweet (although I'd still prefer the Yema cake from Dane's Bakeshop. It's my ultimate cake love. Besides, it's way cheaper. LOL).

Yay! I haven't missed a GT since I made my resolution. I'm so proud! Hahahaha! Before I end this entry, I just like to take this time to congratulate Niko for being promoted as Senior Revenue Accounting Analyst at Eastern Communications. You deserve it girl!!! Love yah!

An Award And A Tag!

Thank you sooo much to my Kumareng Seiko and Nuts dear for tagging me with this lovely V-day tag. I know it's awfully late, but you know what they say. Better late than never. Hee hee. With a tag comes rules to follow, and this Valentine tag requires us to:

1. Post this tag in your blog (multiple blogs allowed) with these mechanics.
2. Don’t forget to use the widget above linking to the site.
3. Post a photo of anything that has the color red.
4. Include also a saying or quote related to LOVE or the LOVE MONTH.
5. Tag as many as you can and instruct them to get back to Arlene's site to leave their url if they have joined.

Here's my photo of something red, taken last year when we went to the farm. The strawberry farm, that is:

Just so you know, I don't eat strawberries (in any form). But they look so delish in pictures, don't you think? Hee hee. And here's my quote for Valentine's Day:

I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day.  When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.

LOL. Cute and funny. That's how I like my quotes ;) I am tagging the Marce Club! Yay! Because I love you all! Mwah! And you, of course. Yes, you. The one who's reading this. And because I'm such a procrastinator, here's another award that's been waiting to be posted, courtesy of my newfound blogger friend, Joan. This one's called the Sunshine Award. We've been getting a LOT of sunshine (too much, I guess. It hasn't rained for what, five months??) here in Baguio so this one's a perfect fit. Hee hee.

Rules? Here they are:

- Put the badge on your blog or within your post.

- Pass the award onto 12 bloggers.

- Link the nominees within your post.

- Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

- Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

Err.. It's kind of late so I can't think straight (nice rhyme! LOL), so I'm just passing this on to... EVERYONE! Yay! Spread the sunshine lovelies!

Post About Our Contest And Win $5!

Several people have posted about our contest on multiple blogs that they own. So, as another motivation to spread the word about the contest, Peh and I decided that we will have a random drawing. Of what? Of all the posts about the contest by people who are already qualified to join. So here's the deal. If you already fulfilled the requirements to join , you can make a post about the contest on ALL the blogs that you own, and every post will count as ONE raffle entry. So if you have ten blogs and you posted about our contest on all those blogs, you instantly have TEN raffle entries. Random.org will choose three people and will win $5 each. Naturally, the more blogs you post to, the better your chances of winning. The drawing will take place on March 1, and all posts prior to that date will be counted. So POST ABOUT OUR CONTEST in ALL your blogs, and get the chance to win $5. Remember, you HAVE to be an official contestant already before you qualify for the random drawing! Also, ONLY ONE ENTRY per blog will be accepted. So even if you make multiple posts about the contest in a SINGLE blog, that will only be counted as ONE entry. Our aim is to spread the word about the contest to as many people as possible, thus the rule. Don't worry, we have made the requirements easier for those who have not joined yet ;)

Comment with the URL of your entries on THIS post. Stray URLs will NOT be counted.

Your Contest Points So Far

As promised, below are the TOP TEN HIGHEST POINTERS of the contest so far. These do not include the points for comments on my blog and Pehpot's, as well as comments on the major sponsors' blogs. We will include them in the final tallying of points (excitement effect. LOL), so these points are only those that came from the mechanics pages. So without further ado, here are the top ten as of February 15, 2010:

  1. Gene - 1090
  2. Kikamz - 960
  3. Niko - 890
  4. Mys - 850
  5. Chris - 840
  6. Sherry - 770
  7. Red - 700
  8. Kasai - 570
  9. Beng - 550
  10. Tetcha - 450

Are you intimidated by their scores? LOL! Don't be. It's still far away from contest end. And let me explain why such high scores. We gave an extra FOUR HUNDRED (400) POINTS for those who completed the reviews of the four major sponsors, ASIDE from giving extra benefits to those who finished completing the requirements early. Why the whopping extra points? Because:

Starting today, we are changing one of the contest requirements. The review of the four major sponsors will NOT be a requirement anymore, so that's yay for everyone whose reason for not joining is that they cannot make a blog review or do not have the time to earn that top spot for the $200. BUT, we will STILL REQUIRE that you post a separate entry with the links of the four major sponsors (codes are already provided. OMG, this is sooo getting lazy-friendly. LOL). We came to this decision because more than we'd like to motivate you to practice your blog reviewing skills for future writing opportunities, we want to keep our promise to our beloved sponsors to give them at least 150 backlinks each for the duration of the contest. So there.

As a recognition to those who were forced (hee hee) to make a review of the major sponsors in the original rules, we are giving them an extra 400 points for their effort. Not bad eh? Anyways, a more detailed explanation of the revised mechanics is here at the original mechanics page, so do read (especially for the new participants.) We hope this move entices more people to join the contest. If not, then... We'll just think of other ways to encourage people join. LOL. You know me and Pehpot. We ALWAYS find a way ;)

El's Christening

I made this invitation last Friday for my nephew Elijah's baptismal (which takes place today). It was Ayie's (my younger sister/Elijah's mother) birthday yesterday, that's why they decided to have the ceremony on almost the same date. Ayie approved of the design (she was breathing down my neck the whole time I was making the invitation), and I'm glad it turned out great. We posted it on her Facebook account as soon as it was finished (no sense printing it as everyone she invited to attend were on Facebook). It was so much better than the one I made for Svet's own baptismal because I didn't know where to go for my resources back then. Elements were from the Christening Kit freebie of Scrap Happy Manda Designs (please visit her page right here if you want to grab it for your own layout) and the gorgeous wordart is made by Bethany of Elegant WordArt (go here if you want to download it for yourself). Fonts used are Affair (that lovely script type I am so in love with right now) and Trajan Pro Bold.

Here is my nephew at the church, looking like a corrupt congressman. Hahaha!

It's My Sister's Birthday Today!

My younger sister Ayie (mother of my nephew Elijah) is celebrating her 19th birthday today. She's been through a lot last year , and I so admire her bravery. I couldn't have faced what she's gone through alone. I would've panicked/cried at every situation that arose. But not Ayie. She's strong, that girl. Yes, she's also the most maldita (errr.. bratty? I don't know how that translates to English! Hahaha!) sister of them all, but I love her to bits nonetheless. We've had rows bigger than any of you can imagine and said hurtful words to each other, but I'm glad that all of it is behind us now.

To you, Ayie, know that I will always be there for you and Elijah. I hope you know how much I love you. I will help you in every way I can to raise Elijah, just promise me to be a good mom to him because he he such a darling piggy. Hee hee. Let's put the past behind, know our priorities and refuse to be put down by self-righteous people who contribute nothing to your welfare. Okay? Love you Ayie!

That's me and my daughter Svet. Don't we look so much alike when I was about the same age as she is now? Hee hee. We both look like we're about to cry. LOL. Found the old photo above when I was looking for.. errr.. you'll know what I was looking for in tomorrow's post. So I decided to scan it and find a similar photo of Svet. Yep. Those big eyes runs in the family. LOL. I wanted to include my mom's baby picture to show you that I look like her and Svet looks like her as well, but I can't find it. Oh bother. I guess that would have to wait for another post. Geez. I'm not done tallying the contest points. Anybody want to volunteer to help me? Hee hee. Never mind. I'll have it done by tomorrow.

GT: My Valentine's Date For 2010

I'd like very much to say that my Valentine's date would be Bradley Cooper (the gorgeous demigod pictured above, the subject of my wet dreams nowadays. LOL). Unfortunately, he is currently filming The A Team, so he called to say he won't be able to come, but he sends all his love my way. Going back to real life, is there really any question as to who my Valentine's date will be? It would be Paulie, of course! We really don't celebrate Valentine's as a rule, and I still don't know if we would have any plans, so if we won't be going out, I will definitely spend the day with him and Svet (as what happens everyday. Hee hee). The 14th will also be my nephew's baptismal day, so we'll probably be caught up in the preparation of the food and entertaining the guests, whoever they may turn out to be. I hope as hell your Valentine's day will not be as mundane as ours, but whatever your plans are and who you're planning to spend the day with, do share over at Girls Talk!
